Product Description
The Argan Tree, Argania spinosa from Sapotaceae family and grows only in Morocco. The trees can live from 150-200 years. For centuries traditional cosmetic products produced from Argania spinosa have been a well kept secret known only to Berber women in Morocco. Argan oil is believed to be one of the rarest oils in the world.
To produce Argan oil for cosmetic use, freshly harvested kernels from the fruit of the Argan tree are pressed and filtered through an organic cotton sieve, to extract the aromatic oil. The Argan oil is easily absorbed by the skin. This form of Argan oil is used for the treatment of dermatologic disease (acne, etc). Argan oil extracted by this method is used in Aromatherapy. In Europe, Argan oil has been used in the Aromatherapy industry for a long time, but for some reason it is not well known in the United States and is unavailable in retail stores.
Argan oil has almost twice as much vitamin E or a-tocopherol as olive oil and it is much richer in linoleic acids. Its anti-ageing properties, due to high levels of vitamin E and saponins (which soften the skin), are well documented.
Tocopherols are very important to human health because of their anti-oxidant actions and free radical scavenger affects. In traditional Moroccan medicine, Argan oil is used for the care of the body and face to counteract the effects of age or weather.

Comment: I absolutely love this stuff. I finished up 3 bottles already, and it has left my skin in really good condition in the winter time. I know a couple people have complained about the smell, but it really does wear off after you apply it. I would not recommend it in the summer though. It could cause you to break out if you have sensitive skin. I just wanted to add that this company ships fast, and can be a very good thing if you are desperately waiting for argan oil.

Comment: As a student of pharmacognosy,I am always looking for natural skin care products. The Argan oil caught my attention after reading an account of tree climbing goats in Morocco. They obviously climbed the argan trees for something of value. It turns out that local farmers coops highly value this oil and a growing demand worldwide for these products allow the mostly female farmers coops a way to support themselves in an ecologically sustainably way.
Everyone who has used the oil has noticed softer skin within a few days of beginning use. It does not smell great, but the odor disappears quickly as the oil is absorbed into the skin and nails. It is reasonably priced and makes for great gifts. No medicene cabinet should be without it.

Summary: Silky Argan Oil Love It!! 2010-01-07
Comment: I really love this product! It is soo silky soft on my skin. I have had heart surgery and I have been putting it on my scar on my chest and it is already lightening it some! It makes my skin smooth and my hair was so shiny after i put some on it after I showered. I think it is really worth the price!!! I will be buying more. Thankyou Amazon, and AAA Shea Butter Company!! Great product!!!!

Comment: This was very expensive and smells nasty, i bought it to use in my hair (as is one of the suggested uses) and the stench is unbearable, what a waste of money.

Summary: Great for my combination, breakout-prone skin 2009-11-19
Comment: I've been using this oil on my face for quite a while and it really does great things for it. I've got combination skin with frequent breakouts and this definitely helps with both moisturizing and keeping breakouts in control. When I stop using it, my skin tends to go back to breaking out. And my skin looks really fresh in the morning. At times, I don't find it quite moisturizing enough and will use a richer moisturizer at night.
The bottle lasts a very long time if you're just using it on your face and chest as I do. I have only tried it in my hair once, but would like to try it again. I just need to figure out the best way to use it. My hair is pretty wimpy and I think I used too much the first time and weighed it down.
As for the smell, I actually don't think it smells nutty. In my opinion, it smells just like kalamata olives (not the regular black ones). My boyfriend always says I have olive face when I'm wearing it. But the smell does go away.
The only other negative is that I wish it was a bit easier to get out of the bottle. It takes some pounding on your hand to get it out.
I'm running out and I definitely plan to reorder. This one is a great price. I've been curious about trying other brands to see how they compare, but I don't really trust what people are selling out there aside from the high priced ones like Josie Maran and Kaeline.
