Summary: Works better than expected 2009-12-02
Comment: I didn't expect much from this cream but it really does work. On a fresh scar it began softening and smoothing the tissue within 2 weeks. I am just starting to try it on a much older scar so I can't really comment on that. Its a bit greasy and probably expensive over the long haul but I am excited by the promise and the results so far.

+++++update 2/10: Update February 2010. I had to have very nasty knee surgery last month resulting in a 10" vertical scar over the cap. I began using Mederma as soon as I got the staples out and it is working very well, softening the look and feel of the scar tissue.

Summary: Made the scar worse!!!!!!! 2009-11-04
Comment: Don't use this product. It is a rip off. I did research after I used it and in studies it showed no improvement of the scar area. When I used it on my facial scar it itched a little bit. I left it on thinking thats normal since the itching was slight, and now my scar is worse than ever. It burned the hell out of my skin. Don't trust this product and don't waste your money. I am considering a class action lawsuit since there have been tons of reports of problems with this product. You shouldn't sell a product that doesn't work and has a chance of making the scar worse.

Comment: I love this Stuff! The only thing is in my experience you need to consistenly use it every day to get results. But other than that its great!

Summary: So far, so good 2009-03-14
Comment: My daughter got a scar on her face. She picked off a scab on her face and the resulting scar was bright red. I gave it some time, but the redness did not fade readily. I understand scars can fade over time, especially on kids; but since it was on her face, I did not want to take any chances. That it only might work was good enough for me. I've used Mederma regularly on her face for about a month and it is definitely faded, not so noticeable anymore.

I also have a deep scar that is 35 years old right smack on the bridge of my nose. It's not fading any more than it has. I decided to try it on that and also a recent burn scar on my arm. The scar on my arm is looking better. It's still there but smooth and fading. The one on the bridge of my nose is deep. I think it looks better but it will be many months before I think I'll truly know. I'll be back to update at that time.

For now, I think it does seem to help and really doesn't hurt new scar formation.
